Muhammad Fanaari (Shams al –Din), from Room, one of the greatest Ottomans scholars in the 15 th century.
He was profoundly expert in Arabic literature, rhetoric, astronomy and intellectual and transmitted sciences.

Shams al –Din was a judge in Beirut and Constantinople and also in governmental works, he was a consultant.

Some believe that, Fanaari was the first person who was given the title "Sheikh al –Islam" (honorific title). He has some works on logic, jurisprudence and transmitted sciences. In the last years of his life, went blind and died at the age of 84.
